My Hunt for the Perfect Invite
So, I’ll be tying the knot soon. My love and I became engaged back in March amongst the cobblestone streets and jazz music of the Crescent City. Maybe it was the voodoo whisperings in the air or the mesmerizing colors of the New Orleans architecture, but it was truly a magical moment in time for me. Since then, I have not completed a single thing on my wedding “to do” list. I mean, I haven’t even picked a date yet. We wanted to truly enjoy our engagement and not worry about details. So that’s what we did gosh darn it! I’m now on the hunt for the perfect invite. I want my invite to feel luxe, and I want it to be highly customizable, and….AFFORDABLE. I’m also looking for the “one stop shop” factor as well for things like bridal shower invites and a wedding website - convenience is key. I’d much rather get all these things handled with a single source. Sigh. I know it’s a tall order, and I dare say nearly impossible. But there is a lot out there - which is great, and makes me hopeful - but it’s also overwhelming.
I came across the brand Basic Invite last month. What’s funny is that they are anything BUT basic. They can literally do everything on my wishlist. Feeling supercharged, excited and grateful, I decided to write this blog post and share my discovery.
Let’s start with the Basic Invite wedding website because it’s FREE!! Oh yeah, it’s free, completely customizable, mobile-friendly and more importantly, super easy to use. I can instantly upload all of the wedding details (when I figure them out), along with pics, and a convenient map with directions for guests.
One of the biggest standout qualities of Basic Invite is that it allows me to have complete control of how I want my invite to look. In other words, I have a ton of colors to choose from (over 180 actually), with instant previews, and the ability to change or adjust every tiny detail. I was shocked to see that most other sites had a limited number of colors to choose from and I couldn’t change anything in the templates - this gave me the feeling that I was getting a cookie cutter product. Even their peel and seal envelopes have nearly endless color options. Once I’m done with my beautiful custom design, I can order a printed sample of the invite. I want to feel the paper, smell it, and make sure the final product is exactly how I envisioned it.
So, that’s as far as I have gone in the process (yay!), but thankfully each invitation on Basic Invite is part of a set, so I’ll have coordinating items I can order such as save the dates, enclosure cards, wedding menus, wedding programs, and even thank you cards. And I can choose from 900 different set options - wowza.
If you’re more of a multi-tasker and looking for convenience, then the Basic Invite Seal & Send option will be your best friend. It’s an all-in-one invite with a tear-off RSVP postcard included. The real showstopper with this option is that guest's addresses are printed on the front of each invitation so no envelope is necessary.
I began the blog showcasing a freebie, and will end with one! This freebie will literally save you TONS and TONS of time - it’s the Basic Invite Address Collection Service. This will nearly eliminate the task of compiling everyone’s addresses. Request addresses from your guests by sharing a link via email or on your social media - voila! Done! And, THEN enjoy free envelope printing! It’s a game changer. :)
